Last week we had a snowfall so thick and lovely it made our backyard birdbath look like a giant mushroom. Of course I can call the snow lovely because I didn’t have to shovel it. Schools were closed, traffic was snarled–some radio stations were calling it Snowmaggedon–and Jake and Rufus sank to their furry little shoulders going out on their daily rounds (Eli is a wimp and wouldn’t venture out). They haven’t seen snow like that in their lifetimes, although I have, but not for a few years. Continue reading
